ENVIRONMENTAL SPECIALIST

Annual Salary $ 62,984.00 - $ 84,404.00

The City of Elk Grove is seeking an experienced professional to support waste operations and to facilitate compliance with various environmental health and safety regulations. 

Under the direction of the Integrated Waste Manager, this position will provide support to the Special Waste Collection Center (SWCC), which is the City’s permanent Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) collection facility.  This individual will be responsible for evaluating site conditions/operations, making recommendations, ensuring regulatory compliance, completing annual reporting requirements, and implementing policies and procedures.

This position requires a strong working knowledge of Federal Hazardous Waste Regulations (RCRA); California Waste Regulations (Title 22); California DTSC requirements; and HHW collection, storage, packaging, and transportation operations.  In addition to waste regulations the candidate must have a strong knowledge of Hazardous Materials Transportation Regulations (DOT) and a strong health and safety focus (OSHA).  The individual must possess or have the ability to retain HAZWOPER Certification.
