Membership Q&A

How are dues assessed as far as Non-profit vs. Individual vs. Business member vs. associate member?

If your organization is paying for your membership, the dues are assessed based on what type of organization they are.  Once the primary member is established, the organization can setup as many associate memberships as they like.

What is the difference between each?

A non-profit membership is setup for non-profit organizations.  Individual memberships are setup for people that would like to be a member but their organization can not pay for the dues or a person isn’t part of any particular organization.  Business memberships are setup for the for-profit businesses in the industry.  Government memberships are setup for members that work at the local, state or federal government levels of the industry.  Associate memberships are subsidiary memberships to the primary one at any organization and received the same benefits as a primary membership at reduced costs.

How can NAHMMA dictate to a member who they represent?

NAHMMA does not dictate who a member represents.  An individual can choose to have an Individual Membership, but if an organization is paying for the membership, we like to acknowledge the organizations that are members and the membership stays with the organization if the employee leaves.

When a business lays down the cash to become a member, does that buy them one "slot" or does then each individual person need to become an associate member?  I work for a Non-profit, why would my entire organization want to become a NAHMMA member?

The entire organization is not necessarily becoming a member, but you're just addressing who the organization you work for that is paying for the membership.  It's a way to distinguish between an individual and an organization membership.  Also, the membership stays with the organization since they are paying the bill.  Also, every organization that has a full-member can add as many "Associate Memberships" as they want.  The only difference with a business membership is if the business becomes a sponsor and certain benefits are included with increased sponsorship amounts.
